AJFCS Psychiatrist Dr. Joshua D. May Achieves Board Certification

AJFCS is proud to announce that Dr. Joshua May, has achieved Board Certification in Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. In becoming Board certified, Dr. May has completed rigorous training and achieved the gold standard in each of the core competencies of patient care, medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, systems-based practice, and practice-based learning and improvement to practice quality specialized medicine in Psychiatry.

May is an adult psychiatrist with state of the art training in all areas of adult outpatient psychiatry. As a recent graduate of the University of Miami psychiatry residency program, Dr. May is well-versed in the scientific advances that have revolutionized the treatment of psychiatric illness over the past two decades.

Highly skilled in advanced psychopharmalogical techniques, Dr. May treats all psychiatric disorders that affect persons over the age of 18.  His special interests include mood and anxiety disorders in adults as well as memory disorders and the caregiver strain associated with these illnesses.  While in psychiatric residency, Dr. May completed specialized training through the University of Miami Memory Disorders Program and through the Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Rehabilitation Program

Dr, May obtained his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School. He trained in Internal Medicine at the Jewish Hospital of Cincinnati and completed his psychiatric residency training at the University of Miami. Dr. May is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.                

What is a ABPN Board-Certified Psychiatrist and what does it mean for you?

Patients can be assured that a board-certified psychiatrist has specialized skills and knowledge to diagnose and treat problems ranging from emergencies to the long-term medical management of psychiatric disorders.
